Bordenaro And Grewal Honored As WestConn Athletics Wolves Of The Week

4/2/2025 1:15:00 PM

DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The 27th overall of 2024-25 and 13th Wolves of the Week of 2025 have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the baseball and softball diamonds. Softball senior Olivia Bordenaro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.).) and baseball junior Max Grewal (Long Beach, N.Y.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Bordenaro won two games in as many days, pitching complete-game victories over Little East Conference (LEC) rival Plymouth State and St. Joseph's (N.Y.) on Thursday and Friday of last week.  Bordenaro allowed eight hits and one earned run with six strikeouts and no walks in a 5-4 victory over the Panthers.  In a 6-5 win over the Bears, Bordenaro scattered seven hits and struck out one to improve to 3-2 this spring.

Grewal allowed five hits and one earned run with one strikeout over seven innings in an LEC start against UMass-Boston.  He left the game with the Wolves trailing, 2-0, but suffered a hard-luck loss.  Grewal is 2-2 this spring with a 2.88 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.
