ATHLETIC TRAINING

WestConn Athletic Training Program Mission Statement

The Western Connecticut State University Athletic Training department seeks to provide comprehensive and quality health care to all student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics. Under the direction of the Team Physician, WestConn 's certified and licensed athletic trainers are committed to the education, prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and return to play of all athletic-related injuries and illnesses sustained to our student-athletes.

This high quality of care is achieved by the Athletic Training staff and physicians being accessible, providing appropriate referral and taking measures to improve the restoration, health and well-being of our student-athletes. It is our ultimate goal to administer these responsibilities and professional skills through thoughtful and compassionate care. Through this goal, we work with WestConn administrators, coaches, physicians, on campus support groups and community specialists to make athletics an integral part of the college experience.

Facilities:

WestConn offers three Athletic Training facilities.

  1. Located in the O'Neill Center: this facility provides services to Soccer, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball and Baseball.
  2. Located in the Westside Athletic Complex (WAC): this room services Football, Field Hockey, Woman's Lacrosse and Men's Lacrosse.
  3. Located on the Midtown campus in Berkshire Hall: this room is primarily used for injury treatments and as a satellite facility when teams practice in the Bill Williams Gymnasium.
