WestConn Sports Communications
The Western Connecticut State University Sports Communications department promotes and publicizes, on both a national and international level, each of WestConn's 22 intercollegiate NCAA varsity sports that compete in the Little East Conference (LEC) and Landmark Conference (LC). The primary responsibility of the office is to disseminate information to members of both the print and electronic media as well institutions that WCSU competes against, and maintains the WestConn Athletics website and its social media platforms. The department produces gameday programs for home athletic events and writes releases surrounding WestConn athletic contests and, department initiatives and accomplishments — which are distributed to regional and national media outlets. The office also supervises the collection of school records and compiles each of the teams' statistical data in order to report to the LEC, LC and the NCAA.

All media should check in with the personnel in the press box prior to stepping on the field.
INTERVIEW POLICY:
All interviews should be coordinated through the Sports Communications office. Student-athletes and coaches are available to media throughout the week, but please allow 24 hours notice. Post game interviews are coordinated following the event and can be conducted on the fields/court or outside the locker rooms following a cool down period.
PHOTO POLICY:
WestConn does require that you obtain a sideline pass in order to shoot any athletic event held at the University. Please contact the Sports Communication office at least 24 hours in advance to reserve a sideline pass. For inside events, photographer/videographers are not allowed on the playing surface and are asked to refrain from flash photography. Once access is obtained, WestConn asks that photographers and/or videographers refrain from walking through or shooting from the bench area of either team. Also, do not shoot in the line or in the area of any scoring opportunity. Visiting Athletic Communications staff must request clearance for photographers and/or videographers, that are affiliated with their university or athletic department at least two days prior to a scheduled contest.
SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY:
Playing and competing for Western Connecticut State University is a privilege, not a right. Student-athletes at WestConn are held in high regard and are considered as role models in the community. It is imperative that student-athletes represent their teams and University in a positive manner at all times. Social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, SnapChat and other digital platforms have increased in popularity and are used by student-athletes at WCSU. Participation in such networks has both positive appeal and potentially negative consequences. It is important that WestConn student-athletes be aware of these consequences and exercise appropriate caution if they choose to participate.
