Holcomb And Wood Honored As WestConn Athletics Wolves Of The Week

2/12/2025 1:55:00 PM

DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The 20th overall and sixth Wolves of the Week of 2025 have been selected thanks to their strong performances in track and field. Women's track and field freshman Annalee Holcomb (New Milford, Conn.) and men's track and field senior Kevin Wood (Bethel, Conn.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Holcomb posted the seventh-fastest top time among Little East Conference (LEC) sprinters this winter, placing 19th place among a crowded field of runners from all NCAA Divisions in the 400-meter dash in Boston College's Showdown at the Heights at The Track at New Balance this weekend.  Holcomb's time of 1:01.68 was just 0.24 seconds shy of the sixth-fastest among LEC runners this season and the fastest among any freshman runners in the conference.  She also posted a 36th-place time of 27.41 in the 200-meter dash at the Showdown which ranks 17th among LEC sprinters this winter.  WestConn heads to the New York City Armory next for the NYU Invitational on Saturday, February 15.

Wood finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 39'06.50" in Boston College's Showdown at the Heights at The Track at New Balance over the weekend.  Wood's performance was the 15th-best top distance of all LEC throwers this winter and the best distance among the nine Division III throwers competing in the event.  WestConn heads to the New York City Armory next for the NYU Invitational on Saturday, February 15.
