Belcher And Dingle Honored As WestConn Athletics Wolves Of The Week

DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The 15th overall and first Wolves of the Week of 2025 have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the basketball court. Men's basketball senior Jourdan Belcher (Elmsford, N.Y..) and women's basketball junior Malaysia Dingle (Brockton, Mass.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Belcher scored a team-high 19 points, making six of 11 shots from the floor, and added five rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in the Wolves' 80-64 loss to Connecticut College in the USJ Holiday Invitational.  Belcher also had seven points and three rebounds in an 88-69 setback against St. Joseph (Conn.) in tournament's consolation game, and represented WestConn on the all-tournament team.  Belcher is averaging 11.3 points and four rebounds heading into the Wolves road game today at 4 p.m. against Little East Conference (LEC) rival Eastern Connecticut.

Dingle averaged 10.3 points over a three-game, seven-day stretch last week, including a 17-point effort in an 80-60 loss at William Paterson on Saturday.  Dingle scored eight points in a 52-45 home setback against Elmira, and totaled 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a 78-61 loss at SUNY Cobleskill.  She made eight of 12 shots from the field added four assists and two steals to her ledger at William Paterson, is averaging 8.8 ppg, and leads the Wolves in both assists with 30 and steals with 32 heading into a road contest at Eastern Connecticut tonight at 6 p.m.
