DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The tenth Wolves of the Week of 2024 fall season have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the soccer pitch and on the volleyball court. Men's soccer junior Kamal Sabar  (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and volleyball junior Sydney Slupatchuk (New Milford, Conn.) and have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Sabar scored three goals in a row to lead WestConn to a 5-0 victory against Rhode Island College on Saturday that clinched the LEC regular-season title for the Wolves. Sabar leads WestConn in scoring this fall with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. He was 2-for-2 on penalty kicks including one conversion against the Anchormen over the weekend.

Slupatchuk anchored the WestConn defense in a tri-match on Saturday. She notched 22 of the Wolves' 74 digs (7.3 per set) and added a service ace to help WestConn defeat Southern Maine, 3-1. In a 3-0 loss to William Paterson, Slupatchuk had 15 digs (five per set).
