DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday. The 13th Wolves of the Week of 2024 fall semester have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the basketball court. Women's Basketball freshman Nia Rencher (Wappingers Fall, N.Y.) and Men's Basketball Junior Nick Boyce (Jamaica, N.Y.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.
Boyce averaged 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals over the Wolves last four games, helping WestConn down York (N.Y.), Elms, and CCNY. Boyce had 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and a blocked shot in WestConn's 91-62 win at York on November 19. He had eight points, five boards, five assists, and four steals in a 82-49 victory over Elms on November 24 and four points, seven rebounds, two steals and a block in a 86-69 triumph versus CCNY on November 26. In the Wolves' 83-82 loss to UMass Boston in the Little East Conference opener, Boyce totaled 22 points and seven rebounds. He was 18-for-31 from the field in the four games.
Rencher averaged 20.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over the Wolves last four games, including 14 points, eight boards and two blocks in WestConn's 69-59 win at John Jay on November 23. Rencher added 22 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and a blocked shot in a loss to Nichols on November 21. She had 23 points, 13 boards, and two blocks in a setback at St. Joseph (Conn.) on November 26 and 23 points and a block in a 68-57 defeat against UMass Boston in the Little East Conference opener on November 2. Rencher earned her second LEC Rookie of the Week on November 25 for her outstanding play against Nichols and John Jay.
