Loth And Virtue Honored As WestConn Athletics Wolves Of The Week

12/11/2024 3:15:00 PM

DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The 14th and final Wolves of the Week of 2024 fall semester have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the indoor track and the basketball court. Men's track and field senior Tyler Loth (Bethel, Conn.) and women's basketball senior Alyssa Virtue (Groton, Conn.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Loth finished third in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, as WestConn competed in its first-ever men's track and field meet and took third place as a squad at the Plymouth Winter Classic in New Hampshire on Saturday.  Loth posted the fastest preliminary time of the day in the 60 meters at 7.19 and placed third in the finals in that event with a 7.15.  He registered a time of 23.21 in the 200 meters to earn 12 points in the two races.

Virtue scored a game-high 17 points and added nine rebounds and three assists to lead WestConn to its first conference win, 60-50, over Castleton on Wednesday.  Virtue, who also added seven points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot in the Wolves' 52-49 victory at Plymouth State on Saturday, is averaging 7.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while starting all nine games this winter.
