3/26/2025 3:10:00 PM

DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The 26th overall of 2024-25 and 12th Wolves of the Week of 2025 have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the lacrosse field and the softball diamond. Men's lacrosse graduate Liam Ford (New Fairfield, Conn.) and softball junior Jaycee Filancia (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Ford scored six goals in three games, including three in a 13-12 loss to Farmingdale State and two in a 9-8 victory over Plymouth State in the Wolves LEC opener.  Ford scored the game-winning tally late in the fourth quarter to break an 8-8 tie against the Panthers and added four ground balls in the three games.  He is second on the Wolves in scoring with 15 goals and six assists for 21 points this spring.

Filancia batted .464 over eight games last week during the Space Coast Games in Melbourne, Florida.  She had a hit in seven of the eight games and multiple hits in six of them.  She scored 11 runs and drove in four more, hit one double and one triple, walked four times, and was successful on all 11 of her stealing attempts. In the infield, Filancia did not make an error in her 41 chances.  She is batting .390 this spring and leads WestConn with 14 runs and 14 stolen bases.
