Russack-Baker And Tucci Honored As WestConn Athletics Wolves Of The Week

3/19/2025 9:34:00 PM

DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.  The 25th overall and 11th Wolves of the Week of 2025 have been selected thanks to their strong performances on the lacrosse field and the softball diamond. Men's lacrosse graduate Jonathan Russack-Baker (Groton, Conn.) and softball sophomore Benni Tucci (Norwalk, Conn.) have been named as the Wolves of the Week.

Russack-Baker led the Wolves with five ground balls and won 10 of his 18 faceoff opportunities in a 10-4 setback at Trinity College.  Russack-Baker has 72 ground balls in eight games this spring, leading WestConn with nine per contest. He has also won over 60 percent of his faceoffs.

Tucci got hits in seven of her first 13 at-bats of the season for WestConn, helping the Wolves jump out to a 3-1 start including wins over Massachusetts College, Grinnell, and St. Norbert.  Tucci was 5-for-8 in WestConn's sweep of MCLA and Grinnell on the season's first day, scored a run in three of the first four games, and had no errors in 15 chances defensively.
