DANBURY, Conn. — Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday. The first Wolves of the Week in the 2025-26 year have been selected for their stellar performances on the field and the links. Field hockey's senior Reagan Schoen (Newtown, Conn.) and men's golf rookie Giancarlo Garippa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) have been named as Wolves of the Week.

Schoen had a goal and an assist to lead WestConn to a 3-1 win over the visiting University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays on Sunday at Westside Stadium. The forward converted on a penalty stroke 6:11 into the second half for the first Wolves goal of the season. Schoen fed freshman teammate and younger sister Ellenoire Schoen (Newtown, Conn.) for the latter's first career marker with 3:43 left in the third quarter.

Garippa tied for fifth on the leader board with a score of 74, as the Wolves opened the 2025-26 season in the Bronco Men's Golf Fall Invitational at Delhi Golf Course this afternoon. The first-year, whose score did not count in the team scoring as he was playing in the tournament as an individual, tied two others just two strokes shy of first place.
