DANBURY, Conn.  Western Connecticut State University football junior Dominic Rienzi (Brewster, N.Y.) was nominated to the 2025 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team earlier this month.  For the second year, Allstate is partnering with the Wuerffel Foundation to align two of college football's most meaningful honors: the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy. Together, they recognize student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in community service, academics and athletics.  Rienzi's impact off the field is just as powerful as his game at the Westside Athletic Complex. From mentoring teammates to teaching the game to the next generation, the junior takes pride in giving back to the community.

Recently on campus, Rienzi volunteered to lead a football station at the Western Connecticut Academy of International Studies' Field Day event – WestConn's magnet school located at the Westside Campus. He organized and ran a variety of football-related activities, including skill drills, relay races and other challenges to keep the children active and engaged. During Earth Day, Rienzi gathered his teammates to help cleanup the Westside Campus, the football stadium and the O'Neill Center to improve the appearance of the University.

During the holiday season, Rienzi provided gifts for families in the Danbury area through the Adopt-a-Family program to bring joy to those facing financial hardships. He also participated in a Trunk or Treat event in Danbury by decorating his car with a Hawaiian luau theme, handed out candy to children from the community and asked Halloween-themed trivia questions.

Prior to his rookie season with the Wolves, Rienzi spent the summer of 2022 fundraising for cystic fibrosis in conjunction with the Brewster community and other local supporters. Through individual outreach and organized events, he helped raise over $8,000 to support research and awareness of cystic fibrosis.

Rienzi has been named to the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Fall All-Academic Team for three-straight years and to the CSC Division III Academic All-District Football Team the last two. In 2024, the linebacker recorded 55 total tackles, with eight tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
