HARTFORD, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University baseball squad was downed at non-conference foe Trinity College, 7-3, on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 5-9 overall while the Bantams improved to 6-8.
Sophomore
Jayson Hannah (Staten Island, N.Y.) paced WestConn with a pair of hits, while rookie
Sal Visone (North Bellmore, N.Y.) came across the plate twice.Â
The Bantams jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the second inning. The Wolves sliced it to 3-2 in the third courtesy of a throwing error that allowed both runners to score. However, the hosts countered quickly with a home run in the bottom half of the frame. They would tack on runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings en route to the victory.
WestConn will look to rebound when they host an LEC doubleheader against UMass Boston on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
