MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves dropped a pair of decisions in Space Coast Games softball action this afternoon. WestConn was beaten by the Hamilton College Continentals, 8-3, and suffered a heart-breaking setback against the University of Hartford Hawks, 7-6. Junior Jayce Filancia (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) had two hits in each game for the Wolves, who are now 3-3. WestConn will return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 19 when they face the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers at 10 a.m. and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds at 12:15 p.m.
Hamilton jumped out to a 6-0 lead in its first three turns at bat and earned its second win over WestConn in as many days. Sophomore

Against Hartford, the Wolves led, 6-5, in the seventh innings but surrendered two to the Hawks in the last frame of a wild affair. Trailing, 3-0, early, WestConn scored twice on an RBI double by junior
Alexis Resto (Shelton, Conn.) and a run-scoring single by senior OF
Brianna Malvino (Glen Cove, N.Y.). WestConn took the lead with a four-run fifth inning.that included RBI singles by Tucci and Ushka and a two-run single by Resto. Bordenaro came in to pitch and got three straight outs with a runner on bas ein the sixth but the Hawks took the lead back in the seventh with a leadoff triple and three singles in a row. The Wolves put two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, but could not tie it up. Resto finished 3-for-4 and Allen was 2-for-4 offensively for the Wolves.
