Alex Haley scores lone goal as Keene State defeats Western women, 1-0

DANBURY, CT - Junior midfielder Alex Haley (Laconia, NH) scored the game's only goal and visiting Keene State College held on to defeat Western Connecticut State University, 1-0 on Senior Day at The WAC on Saturday.

Haley scored her third goal of the season off a pass from Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, MA) at the 24:24 mark of the first half.

The Owls, 13-4-1 overall and are tied atop the Little East Conference, with UMass Boston, at 5-1.  Western falls to 10-7-1 overall and have sole possession of third place at 4-2 with one game remaining in league play.  It closes out the regular season at UMass Dartmouth next Saturday, which is tied with Eastern Connecticut at 3-3 and in fourth place.  Keene State plays host to Southern Maine next Saturday in its finale.

Victoria Crenson (North Salem, NY) earned the victory in goal for KSC.  She mad five saves and registered her sixth shut out of the season.

Freshman Alison Rettenmeier (Sherman, CT) made six saves for the Colonials.

The Owls held a slim advantage in shots, 16-12, with seven of those shots at Rettenmeier.  Five Western's goals were at goal.

The Colonials will face Stevens Tech on Halloween night at The WAC.  Game time is slated for 7 pm.

Prior to the start of today's game, Head Coach Joe Mingachos celebrated the careers of senior Ariana D'Aurio (Cheshire, CT) and Erika Moran (Shelton, CT).
