Rachael Griffith

Rachael Griffith begins her third season as head coach of the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse program in 2025-26.  Griffith arrived in Danbury late in the fall of 2023 and guided the Wolves to the Little East Conference (LEC) regular season title with the program's fourth consecutive flawless conference mark of 7-0 in her first season.  Eight WestConn players earned LEC All-Conference honors and Vicky Gracy repeated as the league's midfielder of the year in 2024.  Last spring, the Wolves won a program-record 17 games with just two losses, won the LEC title, and defeated Merchant Marine in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  Molly Bresnahan was the LEC Goalie of the Year and an All-American Honorable Mention, while five Wolves earned All-LEC recognition.

Griffith coached the previous five seasons at Otterbein University, serving as the Cardinals' head coach in 2022 and 2023.  Griffith guided Otterbein to 8-8 seasons in both 2022 and 2023 and to consecutive appearances in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Semifinals.  The Cardinals boasted eight all-conference selection in Griffith's two seasons as head coach and five CSC Academic All-District honorees last spring. She mentored OAC Midfielder of the Year and All-Region selection Emily Willms in 2023.  A graduate of Florida Southern College, Griffith was a team captain, a two-time all-conference selection and an All-American defender for the Moccasins and helped them win the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship title.  Griffith earned a bachelor's degree from Florida Southern in healthcare administration and also owns a master's degree from Otterbein in allied health. She coached at her alma mater for one season, helping Florida Southern win the Sunshine State Conference title and return to the NCAA Division II Championship game.  Griffith is a native of Ellicott City, Maryland.
