Pota set a new program record in draw controls with 226 total, previously held by teammate Gracy last season and notched her 100th career goal off the first score of the game.
As the final score indicated, WestConn dominated all facets of the contest. They outshot the hosts by a whopping 33-7 margin while winning the ground ball battle, 15-6. They also won 19-of-24 draw controls.
The Wolves nearly garnered running time in the opening quarter as they leaped out to a 9-0 lead. Pota sparked the run with an unassisted marker before putting the finishing touches on the flurry with another pair of goals.
She notched her fourth scoring strike of the contest less than two minutes into the second quarter to put the Wolves up, 10-0. Ratchford found Gracy for a shot into the twine, widening the gap to 14-0 at halftime.
The visitors continued the barrage in the second half. Pota and sophomore midfielder
Kyla Murnane (Bethpage, N.Y.) each found the back of the net with a player down in the penalty box in the third. Rookie
Charlize Wolf (Moseley, Va.) got in on the action with her third goal of the campaign to make it 20-0 in the fourth. Ratchford rounded out the day with her team-leading 23rd marker of the year.
With the win, the Wolves improved to 4-2 overall while St. Thomas sank to 2-7. WestConn returns to action when they square off against visiting UMass Dartmouth in the Little East Conference opener for both squads. Play is slated to begin on Saturday at Noon.
