BOSTON, Mass. — The Western Connecticut State University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 match to UMass Boston in the Little East Conference opener on Saturday. The Wolves dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league, while the Beacons improved to 2-1 and 1-0.
At No. 5 Singles,
Kate Robinson (Brookfield, Conn.) dropped the first set 6-0 to Maya Rubenstein but rallied back in the second after being down 0-3 and came back to win four straight games. Despite the sophomore's effort, she couldn't hold on to force a third set.
"We knew UMass Boston was a solid team, but we were more focused on ourselves and being better all-around tennis players from our previous match," said WestConn head coach Shawn Stillman following the action. "With each day forward, our goals are to improve."
