DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves lost, 4-2, and, 6-2, against the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in Little East Conference (LEC) softball action this afternoon at Westside Field. WestConn falls to 18-14 overall and 6-6 in the LEC, while the Warriors improve to 13-15 overall and 7-3 in the league. The Wolves will host St. Joseph (Conn.) in a doubleheader tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in WestConn's final home games of the 2025 regular season.
WestConn sophomore RHP Lindsay Farinacchio (Red Hook, N.Y.) tossed a five-hitter with three strikeouts but was outdueled by Warrior freshman Elizabeth Mitchell who allowed seven hits but just one earned run with five K's in the first game. Both teams scored an early unearned run before Mitchell gave the visitors a 2-1 lead with an RBI single in the third frame. Rachael Ushka (Southbury, Conn.) blasted a solo homer well over the fence in right-center field in the bottom of the sixth frame.

Kendall Allen (Naugatuck, Conn.) singled and the Wolves had runners on second and third base in the bottom of the seventh, but senior OF
Brianna Malvino (Glen Cove, N.Y.) lined out right to the left fielder to make the final out. Allen and sophomore
Benni Tucci (Norwalk, Conn.) each had two hits and freshman Sera DeBaggos (Mendon, Mass.) had a double for WestConn.
Eastern Connecticut jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second game, but WestConn in the second inning on an Ushka double, a single by graduate OF
Gretchen Bunovsky (Monroe, Conn.), and a two-out, two-run double in the left-center gap by Filancia. Mitchell, who pitched both games for the Warriors, retired the final 15 Wolves in order, however, and Eastern Connecticut scored an insurance run in the fourth and two more in the sixth.

Olivia Bordenaro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) took the loss in game two, allowing seven hits and four runs to drop to 7-5. Farinacchio pitched the final 3.1 innings of the second game, as the Warriors totaled 12 hits in the game. Mitchell pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks. Allen and Tucci had the remaining Wolves hits, both singles, and Maddi Sauve was 4-for-4 with two hits and two RBIs for Eastern Connecticut.
