Jaycee Filancia (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 with four runs, a double, an RBI, a walk, and two steals to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 12-4 win over the visiting Rhode Island College Anchorwomen in Little East Conference (LEC) softball action this afternoon at Westside Field. WestConn, which recovered from an 11-1 setback in the first game, is now 18-12 overall and 6-4 in the LEC, and Rhode Island College moves to 16-13-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the league. The Wolves will host LEC rival Eastern Connecticut next in a doubleheader Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Madison Zicchinelli (Miller Place, N.Y.) smashed a two-run triple for the Wolves. DeBaggis added another RBI double in the fifth to help WestConn end the game early with an eight-run (12-4). The Anchorwomen pounded 15 hits in game one. WestConn sophomore RHP Lindsay Farinacchio (Red Hook, N.Y.) took the loss in the opener but pitched all five innings and improved her record to 8-6. Allen had two hits in each game.
