Julian Duque (Mastic, N.Y.) scored six goals of his team's first 10 goals to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 21-5 drubbing of the visiting University of Massachusetts-Boston Beacons in Little East Conference (LEC) men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Westside Stadium. WestConn led, 9-0, after one quarter and, 11-0, early in the second frame on its way to its fourth consecutive win to improve to 7-6 overall and 4-0 in the league. The Beacons drop to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Wolves will visit Little East rival Massachusetts Maritime next on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Duque and Hawthorne each scored early in the second quarter before Matt Hutchings netted the first UMass Boston goal at the 6:45 mark. WestConn senior middie
Matt Sweeney (Rocky Point, N.Y.) collected a goal and three assists during the ensuing 4-0 WestConn run that spilled into the third frame and gave the home team a 15-1 lead less than 30 seconds after halftime. McMahon scored two more times later in the game, as the Wolves cruised to the lopsided victory. WestConn outshot the Beacons, 58-35, scooped 44 ground balls to 26 for the visitors, and converted on four of seven extra-man opportunities.
