DANBURY, Conn. - Senior guard
Keeshawn Jones (Middletown, N.Y.) scored 25 points and added five steals to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 76-74 victory over the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies in Little East Conference (LEC) men's basketball action this afternoon at Feldman Arena in the O'Neill Center. WestConn improves to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in the LEC while the Huskies drop to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the league. The Wolves will visit LEC rival Rhode Island College next on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Jones was 9-for-14 from the floor and also pulled down four rebounds.
WestConn led in the second half until the final minute and Jones made a steal and a quick outlet pass to junior guard
Tayejon Lynch (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) who outraced the Huskies for the game-winning layup with three seconds left. Southern Maine's Bryce Lausier got off a three-pointer from the top of the key that caromed off the back of the rim as time expired. Jourdan Belcher (Elmsford, N.Y.) who scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half. Jones made a pair of free throws with a minute left to give WestConn a 74-71 lead but Diego Colon drilled a three-pointer from the right wing to tie the game at 74-all with 39 seconds left. Southern Maine forced a turnover on the ensuing Wolves possession but Jones answered with his game-saving steal.

Malik Cole () to pace the Wolves with eight rebounds apiece. Belcher also grabbed seven boards while Lynch collected eight points, five assists, and three steals. Thomas Whelan paced the Huskies with 21 points, Colon scored 16 points and Lausier notched 14 points and 12 rebounds but committed eight turnovers.
