NAPLES, Fla - Freshman left fielder
Isabella Pincince went 4-for-4 four with three runs batted in Saturday's opening 9-0 victory over Mitchell College. The Western Connecticut State University softball bats kept hot throughout the double header as it went on to defeat SUNY Brockport, 6-1 in the second game at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
Game One WestConn 9 vs. Mitchell College 0 (5-innings):
WestConn scattered 11 hits and scored two runs in each of the final four innings of the mercy-rule-shortened game against the Mariners.
Freshman second baseman
Benni Tucci went 2-for-3 and scored two runs for the winners.
Junior shortstop
Rachael Ushka also crossed the dish twice and had a single in two official appearances at the plate.
Carly Cordova and
Amber Roggendorf belted doubles for the winners.
Sophomore
Olivia Bordenaro improved to 1-0 on the season after allowing just three singles over three and a third innings in the center circle. She struck out four and walked one.
Kaitlyn Dean worked the final frame and allowed one hit and walked one.
Game Two SUNY Brockport 1 vs. WestConn 6
Sophomore
Sydney Chenoweth improved to 2-0 after allowing one runs on seven hits in five and two third innings. She struck out two and walked one Golden Eagle.
Classmate
Sarah Milyko closed the door, getting the final four outs while allowing a pair of singles.
Alexis Resto,
Benni Tucci and
Carly Cordova each registered two hits while
Jada Miconi and
Brianna Malvino had two runs batted in for the Wolves.
WestConn erased a 0-0 tie with four runs in the bottom half of the third inning and later took a 6-0 lead with a pair of runs in the fifth inning.
