WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in Little East Conference play following a 3-0 shutout victory at archrival Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday night at Rick McCarthy Field. The Warriors dropped to 3-4-1 and 0-2-1.
Junior forward
Myah Croze (Bristol, Conn.) continued her stellar season tallying her team-leading 14th and 15th goals of the campaign to lead WestConn.
She buried an unassisted tally less than seven minutes into the contest to put the visitors ahead. Neither team would score again until she found the back of the net once again. This time she stroked the ball into back of the net on a penalty kick opportunity in the 61st minute of play.Â
Shortly thereafter, classmate
Skylar Jorge (Trumbull, Conn.) converted a penalty kick of her own to extend the WestConn lead to 3-0. It would mark her sixth goal of the year.Â
The visitors controlled the majority of play as they finished ahead in shots, 28-6. WestConn senior netminder
Karly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) was uncontested while a duo of Eastern goalkeepers were forced to turn aside nine shots.
WestConn will look to keep things rolling against visiting LEC opponent Castleton University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
