DANBURY, CONN. - Freshman midfielder
Suzana Imetovski (Seymour, Conn.) scored a pair of goals and assisted on three others as the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team remain undefeated with a 7-0 victory over visiting Rhode Island College at the Westside Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Imetovski factored in on each of WestConn's first half markers with a goal and two assists before intermission. With 14:08 gone in the second stanza, she scored her second goal of the game and season. Ten minutes later she handed out the dime on
Myah Croze's (Bristol, Conn.) second goal of the game. Â
Croze now has a league-leading nine goals and was named United Soccer Coaches' Division III Offensive Player of the Week in the organization's first weekly release last Monday.
Joing the goal scoring barrage was senior back
Lillian Daniels (Bethel, Conn.) (3:13) off a feed from Imetovski;
Skylar Jorge (Trumbull, Conn.) on a penalty in the 71st minutes; and senior
Marysia Slowik (Norwalk, Conn.) tally with under five minutes remaining on the scoreboard.Â
Brooke Gallagher (Middletown, N.Y.) was credited with an assist on the game's final goal.
Senior goalie
Karly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) earned the victory in goal for WestConn. She made one save before yielding to
Kristen Roessler (Danbury, Conn.) for the final 28 minutes. Roessler made one stop for the winners.
Freshman Reagan Kerecz (Tolland, Conn.) withstood 29 shots on the day and made 11 saves for the Anchorwomen, which drop to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the league.
WestConn travels to The Sage Colleges on Tuesday, September 21. Game time is slated for 7 pm in Albany, N.Y.
RIC plays host to Massachusetts Maritime on Wednesday, September 22 at 6 pm.
